okay..so i am a little (okay, a lot) behind at updating but i have been busy ;)! i can't pry the little guy away from my arms!
recap of the best week ever...
i got an unexpected call from the birth mom at 4:00 on december 28th. she told me she had news and she was about to go into the hospital! this meant she was a week early! we were so excited because each day seemed to take forever when all we wanted to do is to meet him! i freaked out and started calling jim, my mom, in-laws and a bunch of friends. i went home and got a few outfits since H said he was around 5 pounds. little did we know but the birth mom, H, was right next door to a good friend of mine who had her little manny monday evening! more than just a small world!
the medicine they gave H made her go into labor (scheduled to be induced the next morning)and our precious little boy was born at 7:00 a.m. on the 29th which was a very snowy day in texas (the next day was 60 degrees!) i was at work that day and just couldn't focus on anything once i found out! i went home early to prepare as much as i could. we couldn't believe that the next day we would meet our son! on wednesday, jim and i went up to the hospital to meet him at 11:30 a.m!! we were so excited and couldn't sleep the night before. when we arrived, the birth parents were holding him and the birth dad, P, stood up and placed him in our arms. words just can't explain how we both felt towards noah and the wonderful birth parents. that day was so great to spend with noah at only 2 days old and the birth mom. we got to do all the fun things.. jim had never changed or fed a baby before but he was such a pro! we did a little photo shoot with him for the birth parents and us as well. he did so good~ we can't wait to get those in the mail. he better get used to all of the pictures i will take of him! think to date, i have about 200! he better watch out! we then said our emotional good byes for the day to H, where i gave her a gift that ties us all together. i couldn't even get my words out and jim didn't remember what it all stood for so i had to get it out the best i could while sobbing!
that night, we went shopping for last minute things... fisher price sound machine, formula, his "my little lamb" swing (which he LOVES), and more random things that add up ever so quickly. then we attempted to get some sleep just the two of us (along with suki, seymour, and sadye)!
information about adoption... in the state of texas, the law mandates a 48 hour waiting period after delivery in order for the birth mom to sign. this sounds rough- it was so hard! but... texas is one of the best places in the U.S. to adopt. we are very fortunate for that. those 2 days, we were just filled with so many emotions.
the 31st was such an emotional, incredible day. we had to wait a bit longer than expected and i was literally having a panic attack waiting for the papers to come back signed. jim was pacing the wing. at exactly 12:19, the case worker walked up smiling and holding the papers!!! an answer to many, many prayers! after the 200 plus papers we signed, we got to say our goodbyes (for now) to H&P. did a good job by not shedding a tear- ha (see below for yourself in the last picture!) and took many other pictures for his baby book. noah will never doubt the love for him by all of us. we can never thank them enough but will live to make little noah so happy.
a few highlights of the day...
