happy 1 month n!!

we can't believe our little guy is a month old. this month has flown by but we have cherished every minute of it (even the 3 a.m. feedings) and love noah so much. he has been changing every day, getting a little bigger, filling out some, and doing different things. and we have been getting more sleep (thank goodness)!!

tomorrow he goes for his 1 month checkup and we are very curious to see how he has changed. at the last appointment on the 14th, he was 6.3 pounds. my guess is 7.6 and jim's is 7.0 we will see who is the champion of the weigh in tomorrow :)

here are a couple pics of him on his 1 month b-day!

we can't wait to see what february has in store for us!!

HAPPY 4 WEEKS OLD N!!

today our little guy is 4 weeks old.... hard to believe in such a short time how much we are in love with him. he is such a sweet little guy, can be a bit fussy when he is hungry (takes after me). we have been enjoying spending every single day with him. suki has also been enjoying us being at home for almost 2 months. we are thankful that my grandma can watch him during the day which will begin in march. we feel so much better taking him there where he will be loved and will be less likely to become sick. we are enjoying how he continues to do different things each and everyday. he is staying up for most of the days and is sleeping for up to 3.5 hours at a time. can't wait to see how much he has grown on friday for his 1 month checkup! here are a few pictures from the past couple of days my absolute favorite picture is the picture i snapped yesterday while he was napping away in his STUD shirt for valentine's day... Cuteness Alert!!!

noah's room

as promised, here are a few pictures of noah's nursery. it still needs work but the for the most part it is DONE!! i had a bedding issue and got upset that it kept getting delayed due to backorder so i cancelled and lucked out finding the bedding on clearance! i think i like it even better. many hours went into creating it and i thank my mom for the help! she did the awesome tree by hand. we still need to shade it and add a few birds but we are getting there. we also painted a dove but i haven't downloaded them.

notice suki in the pictures! she loves it in there (hey- it was her room before we kicked her out!) so i moved her bed in there.

i will send out more pictures when we are 100% done....hopefully very soon!

shower- round two

this past sunday on the 17th, our mom's threw us a shower at our house. it was so much fun! we had a great turnout and saw many friends we haven't seen in years! everyone was so generous~ noah got so many awesome gifts! noah was on his best behavior and was the hit of the party! suki also did really well. however, she did think most of his presents were for her! notice her in the background ringing her "poochie bells". yes, the dog rings her bells to go potty (and bark at the neighbors dogs). and noah got his first drumset! hopefully this child will be musically inclined. i have a strong feeling he will!

thanks again for the gifts... now i got find the time to do the thank you cards!

suki loves noah

before noah came into our life, i was so worried about how suki, our 3 year old yorkie, would act towards him. (the cats are a different story, they don't even seem to be aware they have a new member to the family)! suki has been our baby and we were afraid that she would get upset when another baby joined our family. little did we know that she loves noah sooo much! she learned his name in a couple of days and is glued to him wherever he goes! she loves to snuggle with us and sit by us when we feed him. i know they are going to be the best of buddies!

here are some adorable pictures of our 2 little babies!

it's shower time!

i have been looking forward to a shower for a very long time... and it was well worth the wait! i had a wonderful shower today with the wonderful ladies from our church. it meant a lot to be surrounded by these incredible ladies who have been every step of the way with us through the entire adoption process. many of their prayers got us through the difficult times. everyone was so thoughtful, noah got so many cool things!! noah somehow managed to sleep through the entire shower and even while he got passed around to everyone!

a big THANK YOU to everyone and thanks again to holly for her hospitality!

3 magical days- rewind!

okay..so i am a little (okay, a lot) behind at updating but i have been busy ;)! i can't pry the little guy away from my arms!

recap of the best week ever...

i got an unexpected call from the birth mom at 4:00 on december 28th. she told me she had news and she was about to go into the hospital! this meant she was a week early! we were so excited because each day seemed to take forever when all we wanted to do is to meet him! i freaked out and started calling jim, my mom, in-laws and a bunch of friends. i went home and got a few outfits since H said he was around 5 pounds. little did we know but the birth mom, H, was right next door to a good friend of mine who had her little manny monday evening! more than just a small world!

the medicine they gave H made her go into labor (scheduled to be induced the next morning)and our precious little boy was born at 7:00 a.m. on the 29th which was a very snowy day in texas (the next day was 60 degrees!) i was at work that day and just couldn't focus on anything once i found out! i went home early to prepare as much as i could. we couldn't believe that the next day we would meet our son! on wednesday, jim and i went up to the hospital to meet him at 11:30 a.m!! we were so excited and couldn't sleep the night before. when we arrived, the birth parents were holding him and the birth dad, P, stood up and placed him in our arms. words just can't explain how we both felt towards noah and the wonderful birth parents. that day was so great to spend with noah at only 2 days old and the birth mom. we got to do all the fun things.. jim had never changed or fed a baby before but he was such a pro! we did a little photo shoot with him for the birth parents and us as well. he did so good~ we can't wait to get those in the mail. he better get used to all of the pictures i will take of him! think to date, i have about 200! he better watch out! we then said our emotional good byes for the day to H, where i gave her a gift that ties us all together. i couldn't even get my words out and jim didn't remember what it all stood for so i had to get it out the best i could while sobbing!

that night, we went shopping for last minute things... fisher price sound machine, formula, his "my little lamb" swing (which he LOVES), and more random things that add up ever so quickly. then we attempted to get some sleep just the two of us (along with suki, seymour, and sadye)!

information about adoption... in the state of texas, the law mandates a 48 hour waiting period after delivery in order for the birth mom to sign. this sounds rough- it was so hard! but... texas is one of the best places in the U.S. to adopt. we are very fortunate for that. those 2 days, we were just filled with so many emotions.

the 31st was such an emotional, incredible day. we had to wait a bit longer than expected and i was literally having a panic attack waiting for the papers to come back signed. jim was pacing the wing. at exactly 12:19, the case worker walked up smiling and holding the papers!!! an answer to many, many prayers! after the 200 plus papers we signed, we got to say our goodbyes (for now) to H&P. did a good job by not shedding a tear- ha (see below for yourself in the last picture!) and took many other pictures for his baby book. noah will never doubt the love for him by all of us. we can never thank them enough but will live to make little noah so happy.

a few highlights of the day...
